Protein-Tyrosine-Kinase (PTK) and Receptor Tyrosine Kinases (RTKs) are two different enzymes that play an important role in cellular signalling pathways because they both catalyse the transfer of a phosphate group from ATP to tyrosine residues on target proteins. The activation of these compounds plays a critical role in cellular signalling, allowing cells to respond to extracellular signals and maintain homeostasis.
